PASSERIFORMES: Pachycephalidae
Falcunculus frontatus
This pair of Crested Shrike-tits confused me.
The bird on the right had been following the other bird around and appeared to be performing a mating display for it.
The olive bib on the displaying bird though surely indicates that it is a female.
I don't have a problem with a female initiating a relationship but the bird on the left did, and it chased off its suitor.
But the bird on the left also appeared to be a female, so perhaps I'm not the only one who's confused.
